Muting someone might preserve your peace, but it leaves the muted person with access your thoughts and the ability to bother your followers without your knowledge. That leaves them with too much power.

Blocking takes that power away.

All it takes is just one day when you have the perfect length and color of odd string to make a lifetime of odd string collecting seem worthwhile.

If the suet cage had not been mauled by bears it would close like normal, but I live in Vermont and I shouldn't have had suet in it so late in the year.

32 miles/2500 feet elevation gain/half a mile carrying my bike on a bit of trail that I was insufficiently warned away from by otherwise super helpful bike shop staff/a few regretful wrong turns in hilly suburbs. On flat pedals because I was leaving open the possibility of Caltrain/BART back.
Erika Hall in an orange long sleeved bike jersey, black hemet, and douchebag cycling sunglasses looking optimistic about being able to find her way home. A new purple Specialized Allez Sprint roadbike with a yellow water bottle in the cage leaning against the cash desk in a bike shop. Look it was on sale, OK. Bike path next to Lower Crystal Springs Reservoir in San Mateo County on a sunny late November day. I've only seen this from 280 before this. It's a really really nice multiuse path. Tall trees on Sawyer Camp Trail multiuse path in San Mateo County

A story Stoppard told several times, in several places:
"Years and years ago, there was a production of The Tempest, out of doors, at an Oxford college on a lawn, which was the stage, and the lawn went back towards the lake in the grounds of the college, and the play began in natural light.
