I don't like to brag about how great my life is going but the power company just turned off the delightful emergency diesel generator that has been running 24x7 in my yard for 3 weeks.

I think I can hear colours.

Muting someone might preserve your peace, but it leaves the muted person with access your thoughts and the ability to bother your followers without your knowledge. That leaves them with too much power.

Blocking takes that power away.

My hottest social media take is that mute is passive aggressive. Block is for people who understand boundaries.

people in my replies all ‘i’d take bush over trump’ now listen. i’ll look the other way on a certain amount of ‘hold your nose and vote blue’ foolishness. but nobody is making you do ‘hold your nose and grudgingly hand it to racist war criminals’
heard george w bush’s voice in the martin scorsese documentary for the first time in years and felt the exact same surge of involuntary hostility towards it that i always used to feel

rich dudes got freakier after butlers fell out of fashion, like say what you will about having domestic servants but clearly it was some sort of moderating force on old rich dudes having a fancy man follow you around saying shit like "oh dear sir, that wouldn't be very becoming"

32 miles/2500 feet elevation gain/half a mile carrying my bike on a bit of trail that I was insufficiently warned away from by otherwise super helpful bike shop staff/a few regretful wrong turns in hilly suburbs. On flat pedals because I was leaving open the possibility of Caltrain/BART back.

"But the Spring Valley Water Company was already muscling in. San Francisco was in an H2O crisis…Engineers and real estate speculators saw solutions in the San Mateo hills. The first dam was built on Pilarcitos Creek in 1867."
