We need to have a conversation about ageism, as it's the last *acceptable form of prejudice, and it is pervasive. I'll start by pointing out that the reason Black & brown people, and women can vote today, is because the old ppl you think are too old to do anything, fought for it.

The real problem with our politics is that everyone -- the media, Republicans, leftists, non-voters, third party ppl, sometimes Dems themselves -- all hold Democrats to an entirely different standard than Republicans are held.

That she came pretty close to winning with only about 100 days to campaign tells me that Biden would've had a decent shot, at least. We'll obviously never know, but it would be nice if the ppl who pushed him out would cop to it not working. Awfully smug for folks who were completely wrong.
I'm not actually a Biden dead ender, I get why the switch happened, but the absolute religious certitude with which the Biden Switcheroo is treated and talked about as an unalloyed and obvious good even though it demonstrably didn't work is fucking galling to me.

AOC is not that good at her job and loves to back primary challengers to incumbents, is it any wonder she lost that vote for Oversight chair? Though considering she isn't particularly qualified, it's no great loss.

We’ll never get everyone to be empathetic, so can only try to mitigate some people’s lack of empathy through legislation.
My spiciest take is that you can't change human nature.
Some people are always going to suck. It doesn't matter what economic system we employ. Horrible people will always find a way to exploit it to benefit themselves over the greater good.
There is no magic bullet to make everyone empathetic.

Yup. 2020 showed who Trump was with the pandemic & how he reacted to the protests. That helped Biden. Biden and VP come in to help fix his mess and those ingrates slapped them in the face by voting for Trump again and staying home. You can’t save stupid people.
