I've read this and Barkskins by Proulx, she's a fantastic writer

my vocab is very limited in Irish but not really, it's more Latin based and the words and spelling are it's own thing, i believe it's 2000 years older than English

Ulster Scots shares a lot of words with Norwegian, barn is child and in US is bairn, kirke is church (sheerkuh) and kirk in US (kerk)

That streak is for Irish 🇮🇪 fairly fluent in Norwegian 🇳🇴 now but still learning everyday, understand some Brazilian Portuguese 🇧🇷 but can't speak much and (not that i consider it a language) also use a lot of Ulster Scots words and phrases
