I have not paid a ton of attention to the uproar over RTO policies, bc we are all in on distributed teams and not going back.

My impression (via social media) has been that these were shadow layoffs.

Last month I asked an investor why they are doing RTO. He said: "Retention, mostly. And morale."

been saying this for like 3 years now, the core constituency of the "manosphere" is not Gen Z or teenage boys, it is 35-55 year old dudes who wish they were still teenage boys
How do famous right-wing influencers actually poll with young men in 2025?

Rogan: 27% favorable, 35% unfavorable, 45% don't know/never heard of
Theo Von: 21% fav, 16% unfav, 55% dk
Andrew Tate: 12% fav, 47% unfav, 36% dk

Sincerity, like introspection, is terrifying, because we are engineered to judge people for being “too much” or “too emotional,” and that’s before gendered and racial bias amplifies the problem further. Media mocks the emotionally honest and elevates manufactured, controlled sincerity, as it’s safe.

The alternative to naloxone (Narcan) for a fentanyl overdose outside a healthcare facility - where almost all of them in this country occur - is death. Dead people don’t recover. Fentanyl overdose is the leading cause of death for Americans 18-44. Every single fentanyl overdose death is preventable.
There are few things as cost effective as Narcan, especially in a country where (entirely preventable) opioid overdoses have been a leading cause of death for years. For every 6 kits distributed 1 OD is prevented. The $56M in this grant trained >66K people and distributed >282,500 kits in 2024 alone
RFK Jr. to End 'Godsend' Narcan Program That Helped Reduce Overdose Deaths Despite His Past Heroin Addiction
Despite overcoming heroin addiction himself, RFK Jr. is backing plans to cut a critical Narcan program that helped reduce overdose deaths.

We’ve done this mass tariff thing 3 times in American history.

1828, 1930, 2025.

All spaced about 100 years apart because everyone who remembers the last one needs to be dead for the next one to happen.

The last two caused a depression. I hope this one makes us rich tho.

Chris Paul on playing 34 minutes at age 39 in his 82nd game of the season:

"I wanted to hoop. One of the guys on the bench asked me in the fourth quarter, 'Why are you in there playing?' I said, it's a long summer when you don't make the playoffs. Like what else I got to do?"

Wednesday wasn't luck.

It was insider trading at historic scale.

Millions in zero-day options precisely 29min before Trump's announcement.

This could only have been executed by sophisticated pros with advance knowledge.

I’ve said it before, will doubtless say it again: These folks are going to be permanently resentful because they’re seeking political power as a substitute for cultural power, and it’s never going to give them what they actually want.
I love how far afield this is from any problem government can address. “Now that Trump won people have to like and agree with me and not tell me I suck anymore.” bsky.app/profile/yash...
2. “For the last four years, very acutely, and I know it preceded these four years as well, but there's been kind of a pressing down. A pressing down and kind of limiting what people can say.”

Arguably the biggest national security breach in U.S. history. Private employees downloading personnel data on every federal employee and tax and social security data on every American onto private unsecured servers. Needless to say, completely illegal and subject to major prison sentences.
3/ different pieces fit together. There also seems to be a significant amount of downloading government data onto private servers, etc, totally outside any cybersecurity regime. Additionally it’s unclear to the people inside whether the people doing these things actually work for the US govt…
