I truly believe RE7 is the only filmable RE game; it's a side effect of the game owing so much to classics of horror cinema and it generally having a better story than most RE games.

That's precisely it. It's particularly bad for teachers of younger children, where the gap is steepest, because a lot of parents and teachers will inherently view a male teacher as strange or dangerous. If you're too masculine, you're scary. If you're not masculine enough, you're suspicious.

At least here in the UK, the attrition rates for male teacher trainees are ASTRONOMICALLY high. Your motives get questioned by parents and fellow staff, you're lumbered with a ton of extra expectations... at least in teaching, it's as much a workplace culture issue as a lack of prestige or pay.
