Jakob Nielsen has walked back his claim from last year that ‘genAI’ will solve accessibility. Now he says that intelligent agents will moot all accessibility by 2030.

While I appreciate the great speakers sharing their knowledge and skills at #axecon, I’m starting to get a sinking feeling that the #a11y industry is unprepared to confront corporate and governmental forces that are actively hostile toward people with disabilities.

#axecon It's pretty gross to go from Wong's powerful message about the need to work directly with people with disabilities to improve accessibility to Deque's alternative vision of "Nah, just ask a chatbot."

#axecon Feels like cognitive whiplash going from Alice Wong telling everybody "100% accessibility is bullshit" in the kickoff keynote speech to Deque's founder Preety Kumar touting advancements in automated accessibility in the very next presentation.
