Ermestis

Ermestis is the first planet of the Ignis System. Ermestis orbits just 36 million miles from it star and can get as close as 24 million miles during its Perihelion (closest point to the star). (Continues in ALT) #digitalart #space #planet #scifiart #volcanic #world

This close orbit results in extremely high temperatures ranging from 230°C to 350°C. While orbiting closer to its parent star than are own Mercury, temperatures are lower due to Ermestis's faster rotational speed as well as having something of an atmosphere.

Ermestis is very volcanically active, a system survey carried out in 2358 by the joint planetary exploration initiative, established by the Galactic Science and Exploration Sub Council. Discovered over 200 active volcano's at the time of their survey. These eruptions eject billions of tons of material into the planets atmosphere, while most of this is blown away by solar winds from Ignis. Some of the gas and dust does remain to provide the planet with a thin but persistent atmosphere.
