You have to be a lot more than someone who comes off as a fighter in public, you have to know where the bodies are buried to keep your caucus in line. Schumer was actually good at that when he was majority leader. Harry Reid was the master at it, yet he came off as relatively mind mannered in public

Imagine going to a movie where the hero has multiple opportunities to kill the bad guy and they keep chickening out. The Democrats keep running that film and can’t understand why it’s not getting good reviews.

Murphy or maybe Whitehouse. I like Warren as a senator, but she’d have no juice to discipline the caucus.

They also don’t go out in storms now the way did back then. The storm the Fitzgerald sailed into was pretty well predicted, but the attitude back then was to sail no matter what because it was the heroic thing to do and the company would pressure the crews to get the ship to its destination on time

Whitehouse is one of the good guys, he didn’t vote for this. I think he’s made it clear he’s not happy about it either.

Both helped to cost them their running mate’s campaign. The minute the 2000 Vice Presidential debate was over, I knew Gore had lost. Cheney ate that little worm’s lunch. And don’t get me started on Kaine. What was Clinton thinking?

Senate terms are too long. They should be 4 years, maybe even two. Senators need to fear the wrath of their base more.

Unfortunately, Kaine isn’t up for reelection until 2030. Senate terms are too long. They should be every 2 or 4 years so they can be a little more afraid of the wrath of their constituents.

I doubt Musk or Trump ever took a walk in the woods by themselves. Being left to contemplate their own damaged psyches would be just too much for them to handle.
