I'm a very short farmer's wife from Northumberland and author of A Farmer's Diary and What the Flock. Owner of the late FatPony, Wonky and more....(and massively fascinated by #UAP and #paranormal phenomenon)
You see that glass balustrade thing behind the sad knee high Xmas tree? Well the kitchen is right below so I'm lying in bed listening to my 83 year old dad eating a late night mince pie and whistling onward Christian soldiers #winningatlife

Ok because I've had the flu from hell and can't stop coughing I've been banished to the study. Next to the clothes dryer of doom plus light with no shade, two cheese strings and a box of trazadone. Oh and there's a sad knee high unlit Xmas tree next to the ubiquitous printer #duvetknowitschristmas

Edwin the rescue crow. I can't get close enough to see the problem but he seems very thin

Oh dear I'm now the owner of a rescue crow. I found him bedraggled and dragging a wing. We're snowed in otherwise id take him to a vet. He's in my sunroom eating cat food and lavishly pooing on my clean washing. Cinders the Magnificent is FASCINATED

These two at the moment - I've always loved @levgrossman.bsky.social after his Magicians series - such a good writer. And I've just finished Withered Hill by @davidbarnettuk.bsky.social - great folk horror - read it in a day!

Throw back to Cabbage the Lamb - he had bulgy eyes and a fleece that was two sizes too big for him. He's now no longer wrinkly but huge and handsome and living his best life tupping his wives up in the wild and woolly uplands of Northumberland (well, Alnwick)...

We have a 10 acre wood - it was founded 1840 (we think) so not very old at all. So not much hazel and only a few youngish oak. Plenty of holly and sycamore and ash though. No yew sadly. The oldest tree on our farm is a gigantic ash (I think - I must measure it's trunk)

Inspired to make Christmas gingerbread this afternoon.

Nailed it

On this windy & wild evening I'm going through some of my fave photos of the farm. Remember Aubergine? He was a sad, small pet lamb that missed his (frankly hopeless) mother and didn't want to join in the orphan lamb sleep heap. He became a honking huge boy with a fondness for digestive biscuits ❤️
