New in PN: The worst chief justice of all time

"American history has no shortage of legendarily bad chief justices and disgraceful decisions. But John Roberts has overseen the wholesale corruption and capture of the Supreme Court, and history should look back on his tenure with revulsion."

BREAKING: In the wake of what appears to be a series of politically motivated shootings in Minnesota that left two people dead, House Republicans are calling for stronger security at their homes to protect them from the violence they have been inciting for years.

What’s the incentive for Iran *not* to develop nuclear weapons now if they actually could.

They made a deal with Obama that Trump tore up. Meanwhile Israel gets infinite special boy passes to bomb Tehran with top shelf American stealth jets.

American assurances mean feck all.

🚨BREAKING: 300+ NIH employees call out the harm of censorship & politicized science in scathing email to Bhattacharya, demanding an end to political interference, a lift on funding freezes, & rehiring of fired staff whose work saves lives.

This is historic - insiders are blowing the whistle.

I think the Atlantic piece is probably the scoopiest scoop of the last few decades. And it has clarified one thing - other than the total idiocy of sending opsec over group chats - Hegseth and Vance have a genuine animosity towards Europe. Something for us all to ponder.

It’s hard to communicate the crisis that’s unfolding and the dangers ahead because a lot of superficial things won’t change. The Netflix will still turn on. Your sports teams will play. You’ll see movies. But the things that make liberal democratic life uniquely stable, secure, & vibrant will decay.

It seems almost unavoidable at this point that we are headed for a deep, deep recession. Just based on 200K+ federal firings & pullback of contracts, the March employment report (to be released April 4) seems certain to show bigger job losses than any month ever outside of a few in 2008-9 and 2020.

Pretty much every single person among the 100,000s the Trump administration is summarily firing is someone who works hard at a job where they earn much less than they could in the private sector, precisely because they believe in public service.
This comment on r/fednews really stood out to me. Trump and Musk want people to think they're firing do-nothing "bureaucrats," but they're really getting rid of people dedicated to serving this country and keeping it operational. I hope these stories get told.
