I do love the fact that over the years we've kept up with the science by going from "something something oil/gas partition" via "something something lipid bilayer" to "something something microtubules quantum mechanics"

The Honan balloon has gone out of fashion awhile ago around here. Little benefit with some added risk.

This is the natural lifecycle of all SoMe communities though since 2000s. MySpace, Facebook, Foursquare, etc. The ideal is that an open protocol like http persists but for social engagement. Let’s hope ATProtocol (Bluesky) or ActivityPub (Mastodon) get some uptake. It’s a long game.

Honestly, better to have a low engagement open protocol SoMe not using non-poisoned algorithms pushed by nefarious agendas.
People need to get off their screens and back to the real world. “Slow” SoMe where conversations happen over weeks is perfectly fine.

I remember reading about people drinking ether and just realised I’ve never considered the oral/NG route for total anaesthesia. Wonder what the therapeutic index might be.
