The attempted mugging of a visiting president was about the world war that Musk, Trump, and Vance have chosen. If we attend to what Vance and Trump said yesterday, we can work our way to the unreason of American policy, and to the chaos that will follow.

The CBC article by Evan Dyer about the similarity of discourse between Trump on Canada and Putin on Ukraine nails it. The other similarity is the amount of wishful thinking and cope in pre-invasion Ukraine and in Canada right now. Time to wake up and get real. www.cbc.ca/news/politic...

Grotesque. The sporting event's response is absolutely incoherent. Simply ban russian athletes until this war is over and russia has admitted its war crimes and paid reparations.

This is the most dangerous time since WW2 – North Koreans fighting alongside Russians in Europe, Iranian drones raining down on Ukrainian cities and China sabre-rattling in Indo-Pacific. At this moment America starts a trade war with its closest partners? I hear Putin and Xi laughing.

We have heard a lot recently about what kind of multinational force could be needed to keep a cease-fire negotiated between Russia and Ukraine. Many of these discussions are based on shaky assumptions. We hear about a peacekeeping force numbering the in tens of thousands.
