also, in case this comes off as "ableist" or "masculinist"–i'd like to add that the people who i see doing this the most are queers, disabled people, people who have had to actually give a fuck and modify themselves towards their own desire. its the radnormies who stand on the fence/spread anxiety

i'd like to know what we are doing, beyond just reacting. what are you doing in your everyday? hole up your house and write a manifesto, scare your boss, destroy a sacred idol, i don't care. share that shit. its important to watch and comment and dislike, but life isn't a youtube video.

what I do want is bold, non-negative visions of liberation from the stupidity and crassness that defines this moment. Not Elizabeth Warren recently saying "our best strategy is to make sure everyone knows what trump is doing"... this might swing the polls back in the dems direction...

It also makes me a bit queasy to see people advancing their careers and selling their wares when there is a real possibility that the intellectual diversity and aspirations of that make academia wonderful are going to be successfully eradicated by people who want to strip it to the bone for profit.

I feel like academia's ability to act has been rotted by the continuous conditioning which undergirds the career structure (trust those above you, win merits, find yourself a safe spot). Nobody knows how to work the levers, fight back etc.

Why is this? Why can a university to instantiate a rule that "gives more money to the departments that bring in more money", thus generating a hell-loop which will likely severely restrict the humanities, and no one (from the departments most affected or otherwise) feels the need to do anything?
