One thing that our own Jim-Crow history of domestic fascism reminds us is that in order to maintain a fear-based order, agents of repression must respond to minor provocations with overwhelming, disproportionate force.
Something about how they need to harshly criminalize the throwing of a sandwich at a fascist precisely because it's the kind of expressive act that goes past liberalism's expression as "communicate your ideas" into the articulation of a desire, warning, and even a threat

Here’s the thing: line officers at DHS routinely lie about stuff like this. Some studies suggest manufactured statements occur in 15-20% of cases, sometimes higher. Border Patrol is the worst offender but ICE does it too.

This kid is 15, and so has a moral clarity and uprightness that no adult elected official would or could ever have. There aren't really and never have been two sides of this issue, but if it has to be argued as a binary thing I don't see how anything less than this could seem like the side to be on.
