For @forward.com, I wrote about how we know that Israel has been withholding food as a military tactic because Israeli officials have said versions of “we are withholding food as a military tactic” for the entirety of the war and pretending otherwise is willful ignorance forward.com/opinion/7586...
Is starvation in Gaza really Israel's fault? The facts are clear
Rising starvation in Gaza may have a number of factors. But Israel's wartime policies on humanitarian aid are inarguably among them.

This is also a considerable underestimation for ‘technical’ errors.
The last Israeli army offensive in Gaza uses ‘necrotactics.’ From a military perspective, necrotactics reverse traditional goals of warfare, by entering strategic ground solely in order to kill.

A M6.2 earthquake below the Sea of Marmara shook Istanbul today. While damage in this event was limited, a large earthquake on this fault system is one of the world’s most serious, and most anticipated, seismic disasters.

“Combat, victory, administration” sounds a lot more like “clear, hold, build” than the previous “clear, withdraw, repeat” strategy did.

Sure seems like the IDF, under the new chief of staff, is gearing up for the occupation—and inevitable insurgency—that it previously insisted wouldn’t work.

When someone replies to you saying something like “oh, you thought this right / law / norm still mattered? How naive!” this is just a form of anticipatory obedience. Cynicism is self-protective. It’s a way to justify compliance

'One Palestine, Complete' by Tom Segev is a riveting, timely must-read for me now 📖
