A really important piece of journalism from @samanthajbooth.bsky.social.

When one school does this, it may be an oversight.

When many schools do this, it may make the system impenetrable.
Most 'information reports', which schools must publish to tell parents about the SEND support they offer, are harder to read than Stephen Hawking’s A Brief History of Time, a study suggests

Ideas to support ‘mental health’ are often based on the that it is something completely internal and ‘within’ a person only. Yet, the reality is that we don’t exist separately from a context around us and our experiences of that. We can’t separate ourselves from this. They shape things for us. 1/4

An interesting/ alarming read and relevant to my thesis research which is listening to the stories of parents (/carers) whose children have attended an alternative provision during primary school 🙂
The 11yo was a part of these statistics - in his last 6 months at primary school, a new headteacher repeatedly suspended him and wanted to permanently exclude him. Most of the time, he was excluded for meltdown moments, which were a symptom of his SEND and unmet needs.

Great video shared by @dancumber.bsky.social explaining the emotions and experiences behind children and young people's seeming 'rude behaviour'

A reminder to us all of the importance of being aware and relationship building!
