I watched the film Halloween the other day and it struck me how little even the US celebrated it within my own lifetime (plus how tame the original slasher flick was!)

Unauthorised access to a computer system is a serious criminal offence carrying a potential jail sentence. That the system might be insecure is not a mitigating factor and you are getting into victim blaming territory here. Badenoch is not a criminal mastermind, but she is a self-confessed criminal.

They were always going to use this route to override state laws that allow abortions.

Should have been done earlier, but there is still 3.5 years to the next election. If (big IF) things improve no one is going to remember what happens in 2025

Thank you for posting this. It just makes me love Airplane! even more. This sharing of essential information is what gives me hope that social media can be a force for good despite the shitty world we live in.

Jenrick was born in 1982. Was his upper middle class dad really taking such a young kid onto the terraces during a period when hooliganism was rife? Or is Jenrick confusing the "away end" with the directors' box?

Bold move for a Tory to propose a policy that would crash house prices...

That was my thought. Would be interesting to see, say, the stats for 60-65 early retirees vs 60-65 workers. I can think of reasons why either could be higher than the other!

If you can't cook a well done steak that is also tender then you simply don't know how to cook steak.

Not really. Most of their wealth is paper only. Actually converting it to dollars would require them to offload enough shares to tank the price. Their cash wealth comes from raising loans against their stock and there's a limit to that.

Scammers include deliberate mis-spellings because they are only interested in attracting the gullible. Ditto today's Tories

Thing is it fails on the most basic sense test - would they really have a supplier picked when they've only just announced the policy? If political news people don't have a clue how govt works then they should be in another job.

As a kid in the 1970s I knew about the Battle of Britain. But it was entirely from watching already old black & white films. Never once mentioned in school - didn't study history to O level and what we did never got beyond Henry VIII

They need to sell it primarily as a convenient way to access state services. It should be something that makes the ordinary person's life a little bit easier in a modern world where proof of id is always required.

Always remember that no matter the circumstances, 19th century gentlemen always had immaculate (even if highly improbable) facial hair.

Got to admit that I'm surprised the French were so willing to put up all those Union flags along the Champs-Élysées. Still, fair play to them, they are obviously as pro English nationalism as Musk and his other US tech bros. At least until we invade France and then the US...
