Marvel could afford to just randomly send out a million dollar check to any one of the creators of multi-billion dollar franchises. And these artists deserve so much more than that.
Miles Morales co-creator Sara Pichelli says she does not get any royalties from the ‘Spider-Verse’ films, Insomniac games, or merch

"I don’t get anything … that's the saddest part of my life"

public libraries can play a role in popular resistance to the reduction of culture to bitstreams, but it’s important to remember that public libraries have a mandate to develop their collections, and that means regular weeding. this is why resource sharing (i.e. ILL) is essential. 📚
Most public libraries are culling their physical media because it doesn’t circulate. If you want libraries to hold something, you need to check it out. Public libraries can’t just be warehouses for physical media you might want someday. Use it or lose it.
When we talk about physical media, we are often only taking about personal collections but a big part of shunning the current digital ecosystem is supporting your local library. Not just for print books and periodicals but for movies, games and other medias too. Get. A. Library. Card.

News orgs must stress this in their coverage. The president does not have the power to overturn a constitutional right and the Supreme Court is behaving STRANGELY by taking up the question as a real controversy

I had my students submit for extra credit a meme reflecting something they learned this semester, along with an accompanying paragraph connecting the meme to the course concept. There were some gems.

This is great. Very few people want to go to jail, get disbarred or die for this regime. Make them fight you. They will cave.

I also think rigidly "biologically" defined gender is very useful for cis men who never want anyone to have an expectation that they could could change how they are cis men.

It's good—very good, and very important—that district courts keep issuing these 100-page rulings upholding the law. It must be incredibly dispiriting to see them overturned in a two-page, lawless, unsigned order, but please, keep them coming. They expose SCOTUS' corruption like nothing else.

That's the part that sticks with me.

This isn't some Tom Clancy novel where they do war crimes because it's the only way they can get at the evil terrorist criminal mastermind or something.

Even if we believe them -- and, ha ha, no! -- they murdered low level drug runners. That's it!
this is just murder, and pointless murder at that.

listen

I don't have any illusions about the United States military, what it does, or how many times this has happened before

but the fact that they sat there for 41 minutes, watched two scared, human beings desperately struggling to stay alive, and then murdered them has fucked me up so deeply

The fact that a second strike like that in an armed conflict is definitely a war crime should not completely negate the fact that *there is no war* and ALL the strikes are cold-blooded murder. The whole chain of command are murderers.

In college I worked for my school’s academic support center. This meant individualized tutoring, but also I could be assigned to specific classes to take notes for students with LD or ESL accommodations. Good. However, in my second year the school hired some new admin type guy, ostensibly to manage
Getting accommodations should be an easy process. Fast and easy and simple requiring zero documentation. Just ask and get it. Or have a third party ask for you and get it.
It's basically impossible to get an IEP if you have a disabled kid who is currently getting good grades, so you have to wait until the grades start falling to get necessary accommodation. 🙃
