A very important thread. When I was probably no more than 10, I saw this picture of the woman known as Harlow in the Philly Inquirer. A little babygay, I was shocked that such a glamour queen could live in my hometown and even more shocked to see her described as "a former man."

Yes to this. Years ago a student once suggested her peers read their paper out loud in front of a mirror. She said if something doesn’t sound right, pause, mark it, and fix it. I’ve suggested it ever since.
I tell my students the easiest way to catch mistakes is for them to read their papers out loud, and they always look at me like I'm insane.

But look, that's what we do with our own books! Because it works!

As the son of a librarian I always 👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼 when I see these!

And, yes, absolutely let them know they’re awesome!
Requested a book through ILL over break. It arrived today. Libraries man.

Omg, RFK’s right hand 😂
Personally, I think it's a bad thing when people in the government post AI images without disclosing that they're AI.

Image on the left is something RFK Jr. posted today. Image on the right is a photo from 2024.

The evidence that Lee Harvey Oswald killed JFK while acting alone is abundant; it’s probably one of the best documented and clearly understood events in modern history, and anyone continuing to insist on it being a matter of debate either hasn’t paid attention or is deliberately trying to mislead.
My first political memory - exactly 62 years ago right now, a 4-year-old boy trying to understand his mom's tears - is still the biggest event in my lifetime. We still (IMO) don't *really* know who killed JFK, but we know the public's trust was shattered. It's a straight line to today's mess

Yup. “I will gladly and willfully sink my own boat to be able to watch you bomb the boats of those I don’t like!”
it turns out the rising tide doesn’t matter, the level of the boats doesn’t matter, it only matters where your boat is as compared to mine
