TIL that the first ⚽️ game between two non-british European nations was Austria vs Hungary in 1902 (thus when A-H empire still existed). While there seems to have never been a Habsburg empire national ⚽️ team (or was there?), a club competition with teams from Vienna, Budapest & Prague started in 1897

First post just a repeat of favorite football/inequality stat: Josef Bican, most prolific goal scorer of all time until dethroned by CR7, would have needed to play 95 years to earn 1 week of Christiano Ronaldo's wages. Having started his career in 1931, he would still have 3 years of playing ahead.
