I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

I’m old enough to remember when the Director General of the BBC categorically didn’t resign after one of its flagship politics shows literally photoshopped Jeremy Corbyn with a Soviet hat and painted red with the Kremlin in the background like some kind of Cold War-era communist mural.

My son Seamus died 15 years ago today. He was killed by a careless driver in a crosswalk.

He walked at 9 months, almost as if he knew he wouldn’t have much time. His favorite thing to do was throw rocks into water. He loved the moon. He called butterflies “buddy buddies.” I miss him every day.

I think its now got to be the case that respectable people should just refuse to appear on panels with Goodwin, even if that means cancelling on the BBC at short notice.
We're now at "black people aren't British". Open sewer racism. Look forward to seeing him on QT again soon.

Absolutely right Phil. The argument seems to go: Car brained conspiracy theorists and the media that enables them didn't like a thing, so we should never do it again. Spoiler alert: they'll hate whatever less effective measures you pivot too, as well.

No, backlash has not undercut the success of 30km/hour speed limits. They have incontrovertibly reduced death and injuries wherever they’ve been introduced. The backlash is just noise, it doesn’t change the facts.
