1st Panel: The dean is relaxing in a robe at home, his feet up, staring at some kind of display of holographic bubbles. The Lower Deckers are staring in from the window behind him. DEAN: Ahhh, the dance of the volumetric Zorr-bubbles is particularly sublte in its interplay of colours tonight. Ho ho! Yes, bubbles! Dance on! 2nd Panel: The lower deckers. Rutherford holds out some kind of device. MARINER: So you can definitely project the holodisplay from here, right? RUTHERFORD: CAN I? Is the Kai Bajoran? Does the Flamgatt of Giras Prime leave its secretions in the woods? MARINER: I assume that's a yes. 3rd Panel. Portal appears in front of the Dean, who does a spit-take. PORTAL: DEAN!!!! DEAN: Sssppshhhht!!!! 4th Panel: The Dean, prostrating himself at Portals' feet. PORTAL: The moons are in alignment! I demand that you and your institution produce a recreation of the ancient HORSEPLAY ceremony of Tagus III tomorrow night!!! DEAN: Yes, mighty Portal! PORTAL: And you YOURSELF will wear the clown suit! DEAN: I...thank you, mighty Portal! PORTAL: That's a great honour, you know! 1st Panel: A big, lively reception outside the Phankar educational facility, with punch. Mariner is getting drunk. A Phankarian woman is flirting with Rutherford. The Dean bursts in wearing a clown costume. CAPTION: THAT EVENING... DEAN: I'm here! I'm here! Am I late? 2nd Panel: Mariner, drunk, nudges Rutherford, who is carrying the portable holoprojector. MARINER: HAHAHA, check it ooooout, we got him in the clown suit! Activate the guy...the thing! 3rd Panel: The Starfleet crew's fake Portal activates again. The Dean prostrates himself. DEEEEEEAN!!! I see you are wearing the clown suit!! DEAN: Yes, mighty one! PORTAL: But what about the ballooooooon animals? 4th Panel: The Dean looks up, annoyed. DEAN: Oh, really now, though, do you... DEAN: Wait. Why are you talking like that? 5th Panel: The fake Portal looks surprised and guilty as the lights begin to coalesce, indicating the REAL Portal is forming. FX: Fizzzzz Shorp 1st Panel: Portal forms with the body of a ripped mail stripper. The Dean and Boimler look on horrified. MUSIC: BOW CHICKA BOW WOW 2nd Panel: The Dean is screaming at the Lower Deckers, who cluster around Rutherford, trying to make the unworking holoprojector work. DEAN: STARFLEET HOOOOOOUSE!!!! TENDI: Oh my god! The real Portal program is glitching with our hologram! Uh, and I think I left some of those Risan travel brochures in the database. 3rd Panel: Portal, still on his ripped body, laughs. PORTAL: HAHAHAHA!!! 4th Panel: Portal reaches down gregariously to bond with the Phankarians and crew. Mariner looks on cheerfully, drunk PORTAL: I see that new ground has been breached! We of the Tkon empire were once like you. Driven, workaholices. Eventually we learned to lighten the hell up. Someday, you will attain the enlightenment of this House Starfleet! 5th Panel: Portal faces the ground, still in his speedo. They react with a cheer, except the Dean, furious in the foreground. PORTAL: Now, who's up for Thirullian beer-pong? CROWD: WHOOOOO!!! PORTAL: It is an ancient sport. Many will die. CROWD: WHOOOOO!!!! DEAN: STARFLEET HOOOOOOOUSE!!!! 1st Panel: Mariner, even drunker, being hoisted on the backs of the crowd. CAPTION: Mariner came in third in Thirullian beer-pong but was disqualified from the finals for vomiting on the judge. 2nd Panel: Boimler huddling in an alcove, terrified. CAPTION: Boimler spent the entire three-day party hiding in the crawlspace in order to avoid a black mark on his record. 3rd Panel: Rutherford toying with a radio of some kind, showing off for Narn and another Phankarian. CAPTION: Ensign Rutherford was wallowed to guest edit the summer report, which he described as one of the highlights of his life. 4th Panel: Tendi, drunk, is cuddling up to the Dean, who looks confused. CAPTION: Ensign Tendi was forced to cancel her vacation plans to Risa when her ticket request was accidentally replaced by an upload of ancient Tagusian Ska Music from the archives. END

1st Panel: The Cerritos in space. Title, "Continuing Education". CAPTION: Captain's Log, Stardate 57635.2 . After decades of negotiation, the Federation has been granted access to the historical archives on Phankar-6. This vast database was built by the ancient Tkon empire and contains a treasure trove of information dating back millennia. The Phankarians have devoted their entire culture to studying and maintaining the archives. Panel 2: Captain Freeman, Ransom, and Mariner are meeting with the Phankarians, pinkish pig-like people. FREEMAN: Once again, Dean, we want to say what an honour it is for you to let us access the archives. DEAN: (Harumph) Yes, well, the Portal approved it. I had no say in the matter. Now, it is customary for all who study the archives to belong to one of the great houses. As outsiders, you will be given the temporary designation of "House Starfleet". 3rd Panel: Freeman indicates Mariner, Boimler, Rutherford and Tendi. Tendi looks excited. DEAN: (Off) We also expect you to follow the same rules of other novice academics while you are here. FREEMAN: Don't worry. My ship will be delivering supplies to Angosia III for the next 2 weeks. I'll be leaving my team here entirely under your authority. PANEL 4: Narn, a young novice, is showing the crew around. He is currently indicating the washroom. Mariner looks irritated. NARN: ...and here's the bathroom. Please dispose of your waste in here. MARINER: UUUUUUUGH, so many rules!!!! 1st Panel: The crew are excitedly digging through the library. BOIMLER: This database is amazing! It's like history is coming alive and shouting facts at me! TENDI: Ha! Check it out! 2nd Panel: Tendi is holding up an image of an alien with a fish on its head. TENDI: Ancient records claimed that the prefects of the Natroovian Conglomeration wore "ceremonial fish on their heads". Everyone assumed it was a mistranslation but NOPE! See? 3rd Panel: Mariner talks to Narn, who is busily typing at a computer terminal. MARINER: Narn, is this ALL you guys do? Just study the archive? NARN: The library terminals are open 27 hours a day, but we only have to study 25 hours a day. We can pick WHICHEVER 25 of those hours we want. 4th Panel: Narn puts on a set of headphones. Mariner clutches her head. NARN: Then it's time for SLEEP-LEARNING!!! 5th Panel: Mariner waving dismissively while Boimler looks scared and angry. MARINER: OK, I'm calling it, this society is messed up. BOIMLER: No! Mariner! You are NOT pulling a Captain Kirk! Everyone! Do NOT let her ask the computer a paradoxical question! 6th Panel: Mariner leans down compassionatedly to talk to Narn. Rutherford pops in from offscreen. MARINER: C'mon, Narn, what do you guys do for FUN around here? NARN: Fun? I... NARN: Well, they let me copy-edit the weekly summation reports. That's KIND of fun. RUTHERFORD: Oh man, that DOES sound fun, can I get in on that? Panel 1: Mariner drags Narn away from the stacks. Boimler looks concerned. MARINER: This is ridiculous. We're going to go ask the Dean for a night off. You've earned it! NARN: Oh! But...but...! 2nd Panel: The crew is outside with Narn. They duck behind some of those big crystals near the Tkon Portal--this is another one of those things from the TNG 1st season episode "The Last Outpost". You know, the one that introduced the Ferengi. The Dean and two other faculty members are walking up the hill towards the center, holding a box. MARINER: Wait, what are they up to? BOIMLER: Oh no! THey're activating the Tkon Portal! I'm not authorized to see this!!! 3rd Panel: Glowing streaks of light come together as the Dean and secondaries look on. FX: WHOOOOOOOSH 4th Panel: The embodiment of Portal, again, the guy from "The Last Outpost", has taken form. The Dean bows before him and offers forth the box. PORTAL: I AM SUMMONED! DEAN: Oh great portal! We have prepared our weekly tribute! 1st Panel: The Dean's box opens to reveal a sort of art deco-ish alien metal sculpture. DEAN: House Farnek prepared this based on the historical descriptions in your archives. It's a meticulous recreation of the Guerdon of Arreta, which adorned the lintels of their ancient kings! 2nd Panel. Close up of Portal looking at the Guerdon, unimpressed. PORTAL: It's OK. I guess. 7, maybe 7.5. Good effort. 3rd Panel: The Dean and administrators bow low before the Portal in the foreground. DEAN: I understand, Oh Great One! Farnek House will be punished for their ineptitude! Assigned to garbage disposal duty for a month! 4th Panel: CU on Mariner looking ticked off from behind the structure. Boimler's anxiety increases. MARINER: Oh, this guy DEFINITELY has it coming. BOIMLER: Oh no. Oh no. This sounds like it's turning into SHENANIGANS!!! 5th Panel: Mariner points dramatically. Boimler cringes as Rutherford, Tendi and Narn look on, perplexed. MARINER: I'm afraid it's already past shenanigans. It's officially a CAPER. BOIMLER: Oh no! I gave her ideas! MARINER: Yes! You're in too deep to back out now!
