I have had a great trip to Amsterdam, visiting Anouk Schrantee, and examining their PhD Student, now Dr, Daphne Boucherie. An excellent thesis, including phamarcologic MRS and MRI.

The new School tradition of a Christmas Jumper competition at the last staff meeting of the year. I didn't win, but I'm not surprised, I don't really consider this sweater I got in Bergen Norway a Christmas one, but it's the closest thing I have.

Part of our physiology based research within the Bangor Imaging unit. Using MRS to investigate neurochemistry during mild intermittent Hypoxia. #physioweek
The control room of the Bangor MRI unit, set up with canisters of oxygen, nitrogen and carbon dioxide, connected to the RespirAct control system. The room also houses the MRI units workstation, various computers, and participant monitoring equipment. The room is large. The cannisters are stored on movable trolleys to allow us to move them into place and put them away after running our scanning session. The Respiract is set up on a table that extends out from our main workbench which is against the wall. A close up of the Respiract system and two gas cylinders containing custom mixes of gas. The RespirAct system allows us to modify the breathing atmosphere of our participants to induce different physiologic conditions from slight increases in carbon dioxide (hypercapnia) to lower oxygen (Hypoxia) all while monitoring the participants breathing. We also use pulseoximetry and blood pressure to monitor participants. This setup forms a part of the Bangor Imaging Cerebral Physiology lab. A member of the lab in front of the Respiract system during an experiment.
