🍽️ Lunch plan was cancelled on account of illness (not mine).

New lunch plan was developed and implemented.

It’s been a nice day. Home now to wind down and prepare for a stupidly busy week ahead.

📚 Spent a chunk of time this afternoon sorting out my reading history so I can do a clean import into Hardcover.

Today is Thursday but also work Friday as I’ve been trialling 9 day fortnights and I’m done for this fortnight. It’s proven challenging to not do things on day 10 but I’m getting better at it. I’ll think about it over the christmas break but leaning towards it being a permanent arrangement in 2026.

The British public are clearly wrong and have no idea what they’re talking about when it comes to Christmas movies.

Carefully crafting my email to ensure it doesn’t say “your reports aren’t working because we introduced a time saving process improvement? Cry me a river. Sounds like a you problem not a me problem” but delivers the same message.

In a surprise to nobody a review has come to the conclusion government appointments too often look like nepotism.

Also in a surprise to nobody Labor has ignored the call to add six-month wait times for former politicians and staffer appointments and a pre-election ban on ministerial appointments.
Scathing review finds government appointments often 'look like nepotism'
A report into government appointments to boards has savaged the system, which it found too often allowed governments to award friends or pick candidates for political purposes, eroding trust with the public.

Two hours, 249 steps, two beers, and a 27.3cm scaled up Santa mini figure appears.

🍺 Currently 33°c. Too hot to be out and about so I think I’ll have a beer, sit in the shade where I get some breeze, and build my Christmas Lego.

I love Star Trek and TNG is my favourite series. I also love Lego.

I was very excited to see there was an Enterprise NCC-1701-D Lego set being released and thought it might be my Christmas present to myself.

It was released in Australia today and it’s $600 AUD! 😭🖖🏻

Team planning morning and they have a habit of getting way down into the micro detail. I’ve told them they need to stay big picture and I’ll be ringing the bell if they don’t.

I really need adult supervision when I go to the comics and collectibles shop at Chermside. I had none today and the Doctor Who collection just increased.

I’m happy though so pfft to supervision.

Team Christmas lunch then the Hijinx hotel to play mini golf and do the escape rooms.

Our team names were “Whatever” and “I don’t mind”, which is not reflective of the fun afternoon we had but typical of a team full of introverts.

Email from Virgin Australia about updated rules for batteries on flights as of 1 December.

No lithium batteries in checked luggage yet lots of people, myself included, put an AirTag in their bag these days.

Mozilla using lots of words to pretend to be here to save us from AI as justification for jamming even more AI into their products.

“And if you are, well, anyone, it’s probably apps and services that become more useful and delightful as they add AI”.

Useful? Maybe. Delightful? Absolutely not.

I’ve been doing my role for a long time and often get asked to give an opinion on proposals, how to do a task which hasn’t been done in a while or what a precedent might be.

Sometimes I wonder if I was to start making up answers to questions and emails how long it would be before someone realised?

Picked up quite a few items from local artisans at the Makers Markets this morning. Christmas presents sorted, two birthdays sorted, and a few things for myself.

I set a budget, which I went well over. My excuse is I like buying handmade items and supporting locals. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I really wish the local convenience store would replace their “OPEN 7 DASYS” sign. It makes my eye twitch every time I go by.

Say 40% Guardian, you can do it. More evidence housing is broken in Australia. Labor has zero interest in doing anything about it because Albo would rather squander his huge majority to ensure he gets back in again than do things which matter in the longer term.
