AJ Lee and Blue Summit, Ardmore Music Hall

And I almost always stop at Tired Hands when I come to Ardmore.

Tonight at Ardmore Music Hall! AJ Lee and Blue Summit

I always feel compelled to take a photo of this when I go to Ardmore.

Ardmore! In big letters to let you know you’re in the right place.

Ardmore Music Hall is the only music venue in the suburbs I’ll go to because it’s so easy to get there via Regional Rail. Actually faster to take the train than drive!

And if you have a monthly pass, it’s free on the weekends. All Regional Rail trips are free on weekends with a monthly pass!

Kinda annoying SEPTA switched tracks for the Paoli train 1 minute before arrival. Almost missed the announcement because I had my earbuds in and had to run up and down to the other track but I made it!

I’m sorry if your Regional Rail train is late. I’m just glad mine is the one that’s on time. 😏

Watched The Botanist at the Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival last night.

Beautiful film set in Xinjiang. Interestingly not about Uyghurs—main characters are a Kazakh boy and Han Chinese girl.

Reminded me of my trip there. The most beautiful place I’ve ever been.

Greater Center City (Tasker to Girard, river to river) only grew 24% between 1990-2020. It probably doesn't help that so much of the city outside of Core Center City is zoned RSA-5 (single family, yellow in image) or RM-1 (multi-family, orange in image), both with max heights of 38ft.

One of my 2025 resolutions was to go to 12 concerts, an avg of 1 per month. I didn't think it'd be that hard, but it's going to come down to the wire.

For 2026, I'm going to reduce my target to 6. I already have 1 in the queue with Camera Obscura announcing a Jersey City show in May!

While Hoboken's gotten a lot of press recently for its Vision Zero success, few people talk about its success in growing its population almost 2x between 1990 and 2020.

This is incredible growth in a relatively short period of time for an established Northeast city.

Wow, what a performance by Joe Hisaishi and the Philadelphia Orchestra!

The formal program had pieces from Howl’s Moving Castle and Castle in the Wind. Then he added on two encores—one of him playing One Summer’s Day from Spirited Away on piano solo and another with music from My Neighbor Totoro!

Natalie Merchant and Sarah McLachlan are performing on the same night in Philly just 5 subway stops away from each other. Can you imagine how amazing it’d be to see them together???

Any tree people know why my cherry blossom tree is confused and flowering in mid November?

New bike day! My oldest grew out of his bike but I didn’t want to get him a new bike bc he rarely rides. I also wasn’t riding my gravel bike bc it’s a pain to drag out of the basement.

So this new @bromptonbicycle.bsky.social G Line will do double duty as his occasional bike and my gravel bike.

Did you know Temple University has a campus in Japan? Pennsylvania residents can pay in-state tuition for a full four year bachelors degree program for 12 majors in Japan!

A great option to study abroad full time at an American university.

None of the other PA state universities offer this.

I normally get locally roasted beans but I’ve heard folks rave about this coffee roasted in Norway and saw it at Thank You Thank You, so I figured I’d give it a try even though it’s almost 2x more expensive than a locally roasted bag.

I bet there are a lot of people in Philly who see this and think “who the f**k are the Union?”

Taking the Navy Yard Shuttle for the first time and I’m not impressed. 20 minute headways, no real time tracking, and it’s late. 😩

I only got one bag of candy this year because since I don’t live on a prime trick-or-treating block, I always end up with extra candy.

If I run out, I might need to start giving out cans of beer from my stash.

McMulty’s has an herbal tea called Blue Eyes which is delicious.

Traditional English Breakfast tea is great but sometimes it’s nice to have something slightly different. McNulty’s has an almond flavored black tea which is delicious.
October 29, 2025 at 2:30 PM
We’re definitely in tea drinking season now. Anyone have a favorite place to get loose leaf tea in Philly?

I’ve just been stocking up at McNulty’s in NYC when I visit but it’d be good to know of local loose leaf tea shops. Thanks!
