I would like to interview people who comment like this to ask *why* they comment like this.

I'm talking sit down, in a room, and read out their replies to them and ask *why* they do this.

I’m from home and wife and kids aren’t here, so I was a little concerned to hear the sound of a toilet flush coming from the bathroom by our back door.

Upon investigation I learned that our tuxedo cat has figured out how to flush the toilet.

This is the most unhinged editorial board piece I have ever read. And as a Seattle Times subscriber, that’s really saying something.

Americans having an overall preference for space and cars is not exclusive with the fact there is way more demand for urban housing than supply.

Building more dense, walkable housing to meet that need will also reduce demand pressure on the suburbs.
Right, this is true, but the OVERWHELMING evidence of the past 100 years of American life is that vastly more people want space and a car than a smaller unit and a car-free lifestyle. This is mostly why the suburban share of US population has grown relentlessly for the entire 20th and 21st century
Some people put a premium on space in my experience, others put a premium on not having to have a car and not being isolated out in the suburbs

“[L]istening is a discipline, and when we listen, we learn.”

An outstanding and extremely worthwhile read.
A way to find common ground: Dump the labels and listen | Op-Ed
The writer draws on her experiences leading apolitical focus groups to suggest ways we might be more moderate in conversing with others, even when we disagree.

A lot has been said about Dick Cheney, but he died doing what he loved: Monitoring the buildup of U.S. military forces in preparation to launch a unilateral invasion of a smaller, weaker country with significant oil reserves on flimsy, invented pretense.

After those results, the Democratic response to GOP pressure to cave on the shutdown should simply be

Poisoned candy is a myth, but it’s critical for ostensibly credible sources to repeat it every year to give parents cover to canvass their kids’ candy haul and figure out what they’re going to steal after the kids go yo bed.

9 outs away.

I’m not upset - or even surprised - that the Ms lost games 6 and 7 of the ALCS. I’m upset by the brief window after Cal’s HR and Woo shutting down the heart of the Toronto lineup, when I actually started to think Ms were going to the World Series.

I stepped out to walk across Philly last night and get a sense of things. City Hall always captures me here, Philadelphia has maintained its European layout and much of its early architecture.

Remember when Republicans said Hunter Biden having a board seat he maybe wasn’t very qualified for made Joe Biden corrupt and unfit to hold office?
Trump said he deserved a cut for brokering the TikTok deal, and at once there was agreement that his son Baron would have a top executive slot... though he hasn't asked for it, and has no apparent qualifications to hold it. This is how Trump 2.0 works. www.telegraph.co.uk/us/news/2025...
