NEW, from me: The House reconciliation bill would be horrible for the country’s energy policy. But the Senate can fix it.

I have a new piece in the @nytimes.com with the three recommendations for how lawmakers can avoid disaster: www.nytimes.com/2025/06/02/o...

Once the future of solar power, the landmark Ivanpah solar thermal power plant along I-15 near the Nevada-California border is past its prime, left in the desert dust by cheaper solar PV. Now, two of the three units are scheduled to go offline in 2026. www.8newsnow.com/news/local-n... 🔌💡

Firefighters from Mexico just arrived at LAX. They'll be joining 14,000+ personnel already battling the #PalisadesFire.

California is immensely grateful to our neighbors' support in the fight against the wildfires in Los Angeles.

I have to take an annual fire safety training for work, and I am reminded that I asked some of the folks who manage these things how they evacuate the NICU and apparently they have vests you can load up with babies

1/In 2024, we have seen unprecedented energy demand as the grid has been swamped with new growth from AI and other sources. Historically, lack of funding has kept geothermal from being a serious solution. Today we take another step forward to close that gap.

Y'all gotta listen to Odd Lots with @timlatimer.bsky.social on how Fervo is cracking the code to scale advanced geothermal. I was there at live taping at DOE's Deploy24. He kicked ass. Listen here open.spotify.com/episode/21kP... or wherever you get your pods. Don't sleep on advanced geothermal 🔌💡

It was great to hear @timlatimer.bsky.social talk about the geothermal revolution at Deploy24!

We are excited to have Quinn Woodard from Fervo at @mitenergyconf.bsky.social to continue the conversation on scaling this technology 🔌💡

Another good chart from yesterday’s IEA Future of Geothermal Report. Flow rate per well is likely the most important cost driver for EGS, so the clear trend in increased productivity, led by Fervo’s Cape results, is a good sign for rapid progress in EGS. iea.blob.core.windows.net/assets/b5b73...

Interesting to see the market reaction on clean energy and climatetech stocks after the election results. Unsurprisingly, most of the stocks are down, but nuclear ($OKLO, $SMR) and geothermal ($ORA) are actually up since Tuesday.
