A citizen ballot initiative backed by the Portland Police Association will seek to reroute 25% of revenues from the Portland Clean Energy Fund tax to fund the hiring of 400 additional police officers.

I thought that the federal grants they had gotten were for the highway covers, not the freeway expansion? Or am I missing something there?

I mean, it'd just be adding onto the long list of road improvement projects that use transit to get funds, then remove most of the transit portions once the budget explodes

Given that the Option 1 would widen the highway and only construct a small portion of the highway cover, I wouldn't be surprised if the highway cover gets delayed into infinity

Between all of the issues with the Interstate Bridge Replacement, and the 2020 Move Forward ballot measure votes down, we somehow lost out on 2 Max extensions and a permanent way to fund transit outside of the State Legislature
