I think more of an issue with some in our fan base is players getting written off too quickly. Hope the same doesn't happen to Barry as there is definitely something there to work with.

I agree that the Tarkowski criticism goes a bit too far sometimes. Not sure I can think of an obviously underrated player, but I used to rate McNeil higher than most other Evertonians. I think his injury last season was a large part of the reason for Dyche getting sacked.

Not a Derby fan but used to live nearby, so nice to hear the voice of Graham Richards from BBC Radio Derby again. A bit of a local legend until he decided it was a good idea to describe Brian Deane as 'going down like the World Trade Centre.' For context, he uttered these words on 15.9.2001 🤦‍♂️

I'll take back some of what I wrote (about Guardian) after reading this excellent piece by @jonathanliew.bsky.social. A sorely needed counterpoint to the hysterical overreaction to a sensible policing decision by large sections of the political and media class (including @barneyronay.bsky.social).

It's not pearl-clutching to expect that a newspaper like the Guardian to report the facts accurately, and not parrot the views of right-wing politicians. Barney's piece was gaslighting those of us not especially keen for a gang of racist football hooligans having the red carpet rolled out for them.

Thank you @barryglendenning.bsky.social for talking a lot more sense about the Maccabi Tel Aviv debacle than your colleague @barneyronay.bsky.social. The way he whitewashed previous examples of racism and hooliganism by MT fans is a stain on the reputation of a supposedly progressive newspaper.

Yes, how silly does @barneyronay.bsky.social feel now after Maccabi Tel Aviv fans have once again been shown up to be a bunch of racist, violent football hooligans? Will he blame Zack Polanski for what happened in Tel Aviv last night? 🤔

Discussion of Leeds own goal on Totally Football Show podcast made reference around the use of the word bizarre being the 'go to' word that kind of own goal (around 57:25 mark). What other adjectives can be used in that situation? I was thinking 'unfortunate', but perhaps that underplays it a bit?

Tried it with Chrome (instead of Firefox) and it worked - thanks 👍

Surprised you didn't pull Dave up on his 'eagle-eared' comment. Didn't realise eagles were famous for having good hearing as well as good eyesight! Maybe 'bat-eared' would have been more appropriate 🤔

Yeah, right!

Enjoyed listening to this but thought the question about tall players was pretty much impossible to get. Even as an Everton fan, I would never have guessed Lacina Traore!

Should probably add for context that the commentator said this at about the 80 minute mark, just after the second Wolves goal.
September 1, 2025 at 2:48 AM
On the world feed for the Wolves vs Everton game, the commentator said that Wolves looked dead and buried at 1-0 (and 3-1). Obviously, the idea of looking dead and buried at 1-0 after 20 minutes is ridiculous, but what is the threshold in terms of scoreline/minutes played of being dead and buried?
