the best flavour from my garden this year, by a long way, is vietnamese coriander, a wonderful long and complex flavour. the best flavour from the sea is roast head and collar of bass, what a combination!

After noticing recently that I hadn't seen a house martin in all the time I've been back in the UK - they were numerous when I was young - I'm very pleased to have just seen two.

Is that whole ludicrous monocle thing with Robert de Saint-Loup a very silly pun that he's 'sans loupe'? #Proust

My wife said to me the other day that my photos sometimes look like I just point the camera at something and take a picture. I don't think she meant it as a compliment, but at the same time, some of the time, for me that is the point - simplicity, spontaneity and naivety can also be a method.

Reading this, and one peculiarity is tgay several disrances are given in nautical terms, despite the story thus far having nothing at all to go with the sea.
Got me wondering is this a feature of the original Hungarian, or an oddity of translation?

Finally after about 30 years of searching for a copy of Ronald Blythe's The Visitors I have been able to reread The Right Day to Kill a Pike. For some reason that story had been lodged in my mind since reading it in primary school. Thank you Internet Archive :)

also been going through phone photos from Shanghai to suplement a series that I shot on LF there - one thing is abundantly clear: there is nothing about shooting on large format that guarantees better photographs and nothing that inherently prevents phone photos from being great.
