Of course, Canadian architecture is also this:
A gleaming glass building with a deeply curved facade is framed by more conventional rectilinear concrete and glass skyscrapers beyond. Mining infrastructure rises above a lot horizon and is brightly sunlit against a sky with wispy clouds. A picturesque row of varied commercial facades, some ornately decorated, stands out in bright sunlight against a dark sky with some clouds. A very simple log cabin, broad and low, its facade interrupted with nothing but two perfectly symmetrical rectangular windows, sits on a well-manicured lawn.

It’s a wonderful building. When the Society for the Study of Architecture in Canada had its conference in Fredericton a few years ago, the banquet was in McAdam Station.

The Day of the Dead Festival in the Market has a spectacular lineup of acts this afternoon. Nat and I are going to probably catch some of the folkloric ballet at 1, and will absolutely not miss Los Paisanos and Flora Flores at 2:15 - they are so much fun. Really, though, the whole day looks amazing!
