We created another #Wikipedia article, this time for Edith Drummond-Hay (1872-1960), a VAD nurse in World War 1 who created beautiful and detailed sketches of life in military hospitals in #Perth and France.

📸 from Red Cross archives. No photo of Edith though 😕

Cover art for March of the Women was designed by artist / dancer Margaret Morris (1891-1980) - one of our #PerthWomenOnWikipedia Though she never lived in Perth, her partner was Perthshire artist JD Fergusson and she donated their archive to @perthmuseum.bsky.social

Out for a walk today and passed Frances Gordon Road, one of the few Perth streets named for a woman. Frances was a militant suffragette who was force-fed in Perth Prison. She's one of our #PerthWomenOnWikipedia - we added the street sign to her article!

The Stone of Destiny / Stone of Scone is said to have come to Scotland from Ireland via St Columba on Iona in the 9th century. So many myths surround it. Which is the real stone?

Suffragette Ethel Moorhead (1869-1955) was the first hunger striker to be force-fed. Spent time in Perth Prison for attack on the Wallace monument. A road in Perth is named after her!

We improved her article by adding citations - and her 1911 census resistance

Marjorie's photo is on Wikimedia Commons 🙌
We improved the lead paragraph on her article so it's clear why she's notable. We did the same for Charlotte's. Many women's achievements are buried in the text so beefing up the lead paragraph really improves their article

Sadly there's no photo of Georgina on her Wikipedia page. A challenge for 20th century women is that photos are still in copyright and we can only upload public domain or CC licensed images.

This fab one of Georgina with her salmon is from gameanglingscotland.co.uk (could they make it free to use?)
