“Well done, my good and faithful servant”… are the first words that came to my mind when hearing of the passing of President Carter. He & his bride committed their lives to service in the most selfless way.

It’s the time of year for mentioning one of my favourite ‘untranslatables’.
‘Poronkusema’, in Finnish, once denoted a distance of around 7.5km, which is roughly how long a reindeer can last before needing to urinate. ‘Poronkusema’ means ‘reindeer pee’.

Can’t sleep. Obsessed w/ idea that 1st 15 years of my life- ‘65 to’80- seemed to take forever. But 3 different 15 year segments since feel like they whizzed by. I doubt this is the theory of relativity Einstein wrote about. But how can Sgt Pepper’s to Born to Run be same distance as Damn is to now?
