We went downhill afterward.

Good public health is invisible. People tend not to notice the absence of disease.

Until people like RFK Jr start bringing it back.

The more I use Bluesky, the more I realize the ways Threads fumbled the ball.

Threads’ biggest mistake: not grasping that conversation-centric social media is contemporaneous.

Everyone needs to see things at the same time so they can *engage with each other at the same time*.

One thing I look for in a social network is not to have the CEO shove his reactionary political views in my face every time I open the app. So I’m happy here.

Oh man, I’m going to date myself with this one, but my mum had a subscription to MacAddict Magazine, which came with a disk full of trial versions of software and games. Every time a new edition was delivered, I would race upstairs to the PowerMac 4400 in my bedroom to try every. Single. Game.

I open my Bluesky feed and it is full of really cool people saying really smart things and being really passionate about really interesting stuff.

I like this version of social media, and the world.

Thanks, folks.

Just a reminder that in 2020, Dr. Oz suggested that opening schools during COVID would "only cost us 2-3% in terms of total mortality," and that "any life is a life lost but... that might be a tradeoff some folks would consider."

Trump just nominated Brendan Carr to be in charge of the FCC.

Brendan Carr wrote the FCC chapter in Project 2025.

Project 2025 was always Trump’s plan. We were warned.

TIL I might be a cat 😸
Cats are truly unknowable because they’ll be like “I’m gonna burn this whole goddamn system to the ground” and “feed me daddy PLEASE feed me” in the same breath
