Art historian @ Tulane. Working on visual, material and built cultures of early modern Northern Europe, the Spanish empire and the Dutch Atlantic. Never too busy for a happy hour. My employer really wants me to note: all these views are mine not theirs.
My poor Louisiana dog is so very cold (it was 55 when I took this, it’s now over 60 and she is still there). Yes I will put a dang sweater on her

Always think of my grandfather on Veterans Day - someone who actually Gained weight in basic training bc was first time he had regular high calorie meals. Also him and my 2 brothers who served/serve look so much alike.

Also took the teen and tween thrifting this morning and a lovely Honduran abuelita berated me (nicely) for my kids not speaking Spanish - I was surprised she was so chatty and then realized this was the shirt I am wearing today…everyone recognizes the mazapan logo, lol

The absolute best piece of departmental mail: a delightful book by a brilliant friend. While nothing compares to Marden reciting Pliny on his villa while visiting the Getty, chapters like ‘so your architect blew through your budget: now what (Vitruvius)’ give you a sense of her insightful humor ❤️

Such a treat to hear dawoud bey talk about 3 powerful photo/video series now up at NOMA. If you could make it over there for the second half of today’s opening talks, you should!

Bean update: I have royal coronas prepared à la Bon appetit (had some w greens and their broth for lunch, pizza beans planned for tomorrow) and these pink citys destined to be refried for burritos later. If I don’t eat them all first.

Did I just spend 75 min in line for the grand opening of my fave Taiwanese bakery chain and then spend 50 bucks on baked goods and various milk teas/coffees?? Yea I did.

I would like to channel the DGAF attitude of my dog, who simply laid down when I took her out for a walk/potty break. Same girl, same.
