Seems like an interesting problem. Been looking into it out of curiousity. There is a type of gopher fence. It gets buried and partially sits above ground. Been seeing recomendations to attract animals that prey on them too. I'm sure you'll solve it. Its always more of a project then we want.

My bad. I had that soil thing wrong. There has to be some way to make a soil barrier. Little buggers will probably just go over it though. 😁 The companion plants like the same soil. Good luck.

There is also adopting a good mouser breed. 🐈😸 May guys often hang out in the garden for mice here.

Maybe the devices you have can be used to evict the critters and then set up the physical(sandy soil) and aromatic crops/barrier to keep them out.

There is a plant actually called gopher spurge which is grown in rows around crops.

Maybe a border around the crops they like of sandy/loamy soil. Use that soil to grow an english lavender patch. Its good to find a plant you can use as a crop as well. Others would be wormwood, rosemary, and daffodils. It's going to depend on your zone.

I have had luck using companion plants for rabbits and insects. I only have groundhog here and used a physical barrier for them. I cant say for sure what will work from experience but here is what I would try. I may try a combination of unattractive soil conditions and repellent plants.

Yea, I definitely wouldn't use pissy. It was likely said out of malice to her. Consistently call her something else that sounds different in a kind voice. She will pick up on it.
