2 c brown sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
4 sticks of cinnamon
1 tbsp each: ground ginger, cloves, nutmeg
1/4 tsp cayenne
1 c water
heat to boil, remove from heat, stir til all is dissolved (except for sticks) move back and forth from heat to cool for about 3 min total. store with sticks in syrup.
