My first book was published in the series she edited at SUNY Press and I wouldn’t have gotten tenure without her.

We did theater workshops together, and I remember when we wrestled fervently, barefoot on the grass, to exhaustion, as if the world depended on it, as part of a theater game.

I met Deb at UT Austin, for the grad student conference we organized, around 2010. At the dinner she refused to sit with the faculty, but wanted to be with the students all night.
