I feel like this is some kind of strange millennial right of passage.

We're all nonbinary fyi so we then discussed the various queer reactions to the concept of this movie from 1994.

"The Terminator plays a doctor testing experimental pregnancy medicine on himself and having a baby?"

"Yup!"

Hell, even if you don't publish comics but want to... Hire me! I know some of the most talented artists, writers, colorists, and letterers and could probably build a quality slate of 10-15 graphic novels/ comic series in no time.

I'm enjoying freelancing but I want to help build something new.

I'm not interested in working in a toxic work environment under some kind of egomaniac. I refuse to churn out slop that disappoints readers, weakens our medium and hurts retailers.

My proposal is quite simple really: hire me to help you publish the best comics and graphic novels possible.

People like him don't talk like that/ ask questions that way unless they are confident that they can do something with the answer. Wolff gave him one hell of an answer but I don't think it was what he wanted.

Also... Wolff is now entirely suspect right? For having gone to the island/a party?

I did that one around 11 or 12 but I had listened to some of his short stories on tape when I was younger. The ones that had all the big 90s actors reading.

Every time someone tells me things "weren't that bad" back then I'm just like... "Where were you at exactly?"

So many straight people built their identity and sense of humor around not being gay and hating us.

Basically. That is certainly how it looks and feels.

Yeah, I get that there are some tough logistical issues regarding an initial move. But to my point Image was previously in fricken Berkley, California which is soooo much more expensive than Portland.

I meant no disrespect, I think you did an absolutely fantastic job. I'm sure the dialogue is good and has purpose but like... it just feels it could have been paced out better so that you +the artist don't have to work so hard to make it work. I'm confident the final will be epic either way :)

A publisher shifting to a smaller city or town can not only make life more affordable for all of its employees but massively improve the life and culture of that new home.

Are these massive publishers really benefiting from being in NYC, are their workers? Does the city care at all?
November 11, 2025 at 9:35 PM
Yes I get that the second one would take some time. I'm not saying like break leases and make it happen over night but... what's the argument for staying? In the big picture even large publishers are smaller than most companies in other industries, what I'm proposing is feasible and realistic.
