Thanks Matt. I produce an annual chart in the @birdsinwales.bsky.social Welsh Bird Report that shows the peak dates and movements. It's brilliant that birders like you undertake a count on the big days. Would love to know where they all go...!

An excellent tribute by Duncan. I echo the comments about Patrick's invaluable contribution to the DETR Raptor Working Group. His first-hand knowledge combined with his legal mind were a powerful combination that couldn't be ignored. A superb advocate for raptors.

Sort of. The nest site is about a mile from the sea but they feed across the Carneddau mountains. In summer, had a flock of around 30 at over 800 m asl
