The fight with Sukunaoni in Episode 16 of Ultraman Tiga is one of my favorite fights of its series. Along with the the hints of humor, it's moody and there's a lot of creativity at work here. Same can be said for the episode as a whole.

It seems that it was difficult to get permission to film at certain locations for Shin Kamen Rider. Apparently the only reason the filmmakers were able to shoot at Ogouchi Dam was because the person in charge of it was an Evangelion fan.

Crazy how Digimon had Mamoru Hosoda and Chiaki J. Konoka work on it but AFAIK the Pokemon anime never pulled anyone quite that iconic.
Greymon vs Parrotmon from Digimon Adventure (1999), a short film directed by Mamoru Hosoda. There was a resurgence of interest in giant monster media at the time and this film was influenced by that.
