Not long ago we Brits stored our cars in a ‘garage’- rhymed the French way like Nigel’s ‘Farage.’ But now that the word garage has gone all British- even the BBC uses ‘garidge’ these days -isn’t it time, dear leader, you helped us get out language back by answering to Nigel ‘Faridge’?

Was recently informed by a literary agent that best-selling fiction these days is ‘romantasy’. Sex and dragons seemingly. I assume it doesn’t mean sex with actual dragons - such burning lust would put a rapid end to any hero(ine)’s story. On the other hand -wistfully - sorry folks - why not?

What’s the problem with putting swift bricks into houses. They’re just bricks put in like any other bricks. They are vital for the breeding of these wonderful birds which most of us love …

Island of strangers? No. I live in a council block, more than half its residents born elsewhere, some ex-refugees. We greet each other, stop to chat, ask about each other’s families. My son lives in a ritzier area and flat, his neighbours mostly white Brits. Do they talk to each other? Rarely.

Does anyone recognise this plumage ? Remains of owl/falcon sized bird with taloned feet half-eaten by a ?fox. Similar plumage on RSPB site relating to such birds. But I can’t identify exactly. You rarely see a predator preyed on - unless it’s a raptor by a gamekeeper. No gamekeepers round here.
