Shameful!! Lack of democracy... and common sense!

Brand new LRT 10Km at CAN$3.7Bn / USD$2.7Bn (auditors should look into this).
LRT with hundreds of passengers has to wait for cars with ONE person!!! NO right of way!!
Constitution says 'all people are equal.' Not here! TO/ON

Plastic pollution will double by 2040 at the current rate.
Or
It could be cut by 83%.

How?
Refill are part solution. No liquid in plastic package should be sold, mandate it within 2 years.
Refills, or powder, to add water at home. Soft drinks, detergents, etc.

Doug Ford ordered Ontario public servants back to the office.

Why not the municipalities? Poli-games?
People are MORE productive, better health, less loneliness. Good for economy.
All working 11-3; start bet. 7&11, end bet. 3&7. End congestion
Toronto staff ONE day in off.; Why?

CALIFORNIA FOREVER
NEW city of 400,000 pop. proposed in Solano County. New Urbanism.

If it works, cities & developers should tear down hundreds of hectares of sprawl to build NEW cities.

No need to waste TIME and $$$ hiring a transit czar.

If City wanted to eliminate congestion & move people:
• All streetcar lanes & most bus, exclusive. NO car parking/stopping; $500 fine.
• Peak hours suspend 1/3 stops, except for people disabilities.
• Right of way on lights. Stops past the light.

Enjoyed keynoting on PLACEMAKING in Akron Ohio.

It must start with a blank page; ask the community WHAT do they want.
• The Community is the expert.
• Cities must honestly want to listen; most do not. Tokenism.
• Engaging community is slower, but produces better results.

MYTHS • Nature in our Cities:

• Small habitat patches don't matter
• Anything green will do
• Green infra. will solve the biodiversity crisis
• Nature will look after itself
• Nature doesn't belong in the city
• People won't like it
• We can't afford it

Bikelanes.
If they are not safe for an 8-year-old
and for an 80-year-old person,
then they are nothing.
Don’t even call them bikelanes.

In the Netherlands, where there is SAFE infra, 1 of 4 trips of people over-65 is bicycle riding.
Let's do cities for everyone.
Thanks, Jon Burke

Canada's immigration system is broken, but can be fixed.

Too many highly educated & skilled leave within 5 years. Why?
Too hard to start. Unions & prof. associations close the doors of their 'competition.'
Have a national path to get certified. How to validate experience, studies.

Biodiversity is crucial to children's wellbeing.
To everyone, everywhere.

In Finland, kindergartens are exposing children to more mud, wild plants and moss - and finding it improves their health.
Radical exp: to bring a forest into a preschool for children’s health.

It's NOT about speed cameras.
It's about making streets SAFE 24/7
Mayor Chow & Councillor Perks have failed to make Parkside Dr. safe. People killed & severely injured.
Simple: max speed to 30Kph while it borders the park, install bumps each 50 meters, narrow street at crosswalks.
Stop blah, and do!

Extreme POVERTY: living under $3 USD per day.

It's sad that over 800 million people live in X-Poverty. But let's 'celebrate' that just 25 years ago it was almost 3 times more people, 2270 millions!
We are moving to ZERO, but it should be faster.
Latin America was 99.8m, now 29m.
