Every Unionist MP from Ulster, from whatever party, voted against the Assisted Dying Bill. But it won't apply there if enacted. Nor will it in Scotland, yet several Labour or Tory Scots MPs voted against it (including mine), and 2 LibDems. They've done nothing wrong, but it feels a bit iffy to me.

I liked and admired Louise Haigh, who resigned as Transport Secretary yesterday, but in her replacement there is now an added bonus, and further historical moment in our national life to note, on top of the bigger headline news from Parliament this afternoon. This:
A remarkable stat: Heidi Alexander’s appointment as Transport Secretary means the cabinet is now 100% state-educated for the first time in history.
