I don't know about others but it is wild to me to be willingly giving this up as an engineer.

I'd rather painstakingly hunt-and-peck every character into the IDE than "save time" and lose my credibility attached to my name.

Reminder that before I started writing novels I didn't study writing at university, attended no workshops/conferences, knew absolutely no one in science fiction publishing circles, and didn't start going to conventions until after I got a contract for my novel.

What I *did* do: Write. A lot.
Saw a post recently about what makes someone a "serious" writer. It included studying writing at university, partaking in multi-day workshops, attending conferences, attending awards ceremonies.

Sounds a lot like pay-to-play, to me.

"tools for thought pivoted to slot machines" Interesting reading from @danabra.mov

the main thing that makes me uneasy about llms is the cultural backdrop of global war on knowledge. the war on knowledge isn’t new but now it’s cheered on from tech too. tools for thought pivoted to slot machines because that’s what people want. “how things work” is buried under opaque indirections

Curity is turning 10 today! 🥳

It started as a simple idea: security should be built right, from the start. A decade later, our mission stays the same - helping organizations control access, protect data and make the internet safer.
