da Vinci immediately comes to my mind as one classic example. His iconic image the Vitruvian Man combines both his artistic and his scientific skills.

They were best buds right from the start.

Temps are dropping fast & we have hard frost in the forecast. I'm harvesting the last of the mints to dry for our winter tea. Will pull up a few Daikon radish and carrots to snack on while we make our Thanksgiving dinner. Our garden provides, March through November.

The same reason it took two years for Obama's Kill List memo to be revealed. This started with Nixon, or before, was bipartisan, and has involved many (every?) President since who wants to do something they know is illegal.

Yet to date, there has been no thorough scholarly analysis of the source of law underpinnings of the virtually universally accepted aphorism that “a sitting president cannot be indicted” and is thus immune from judicial oversight for criminal wrongdoing. This Article asks the question: What is an OLC memo as a source of law? It applies constitutional and administrative law principles to conclude that, considered together, these particular OLC memos either constitute a categorical prosecutorial declination determination within the ambit of the president’s Take Care prerogative or a non-legislative rule within the meaning of the Administrative Procedure Act.

Same. It was a glorious fall evening.
A glimpse of a reservoir through fall trees. Leaves blanket the path. The water in the reservoir is very low, a lot of the shoreline, essentially everything here that looks like a beach, is normally underwater. A smol sesame Shiba Inu lies on her left side in fall leaves. Her honey-brown undercoat and black-tipped outer coat work as camouflage. She is looking at the camera as if asking, "I am disappear yet?" Another view of the reservoir as seen through a bizarre sapling that has two sharp angles in the trunk. It looks like the number 4 (backward). Behind it in the distance is a mudflat where the water has receded. In the distance a glimpse of the water can be seen behind a sun-drenched hill.

Same grow tower in above post lush with cucumber vines marigolds, lettuce and basil. The vertical poles in front are grow lights, there are also grow lights hanging from the modified shelving unit at the top and a furled reflective blanket at the side that gets wrapped across the front to intensify the light. One of the many massive, 12-inch cukes we it produced. We had at least one of these per day during peack production. The fruit is dark green. There is a yellow cuke flower at the top and it is surrounded with the savoyed leaves. In the background is an orange marigold filled wiht flowers and buds. A woman's hand gently holds the cuke away from the foliage. The grow lights twinkle in the upper right corner of the frame. A huge basil leaf, with my - admittedly smol - hand behind it for size comparison. It is wrinkled and ridged, medium green. It is surrounded by cuke foliage (as most everything was by this time in the indoor growing season).

Got the indoor grow tower populated with seedlings last night.
Basil, cukes, marigolds and a couple cherry tomatoes. They are so tiny! Hard to believe, but this will supply us with all the cukes and basil we need through the winter. The 'mater are a new addition this year. 🌱

There are 30 openings, 6 across, 5 down, each row with a wavy metal plant support. It is decorated with stickers and has some plant spray bottles sitting on the bottom edge. Close-up of basil and cuke seedlings and some of the stickers I have gotten from folks who post on Bsky! The top one is of an iridescent beetle (can't recall the artist). We had a nice walk at the reservoir last night and I got fascinated by a moss-covered log. It was a beautiful peaceful evening.

This looks so familiar. Our old girl has a new poofy bed that she has come to love once she figured out how to walk on the poofy. And, for comparison, I give you near-zonked versus not-nearly-close-enough-to-zonked. 😂

She has it trapped between her front paws, the floofy chew part in her mouth, mid-shake. She is SO FEROCIOUS!!!

The U.S. military is actively interested in overcoming radio frequency-controlled drones’ limitations, especially for fighting in caves and tunnels, which you can read about here. Law enforcement has similar concerns.

Yeah, that's why I based it on watching to see if they even try. Or if they actively become the part of the ratchet that forever prevents it from doing anything but moving toward the future Republicans have wet dreams about.

There were right wing Catholics in my neighborhood who slashed signs in peoples' yards supporting our constitutional amendment on abortion. They would have LOVED to see those of us who carried those petitions thrown in jail.

That she prioritizes "the will of the people’s elected representatives" over the people themselves is telling. Especially given that they are already likely gerrymandered into powerlessness and this effort will only take more power away.

Summers will also immediately go on leave from his role as the director of the Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Business and Government at the Harvard Kennedy School. He has led the center, which focuses on studying policy issues in the public and private sector, since 2011. “Mr. Summers has decided it’s in the best interest of the Center for him to go on leave from his role as Director as Harvard undertakes its review,” the spokesperson wrote in a Wednesday evening statement. This reminds me of some pics I took last week. We had a 24-36 hr period that started with fog, then sunshine breaking through and snow the next day that gifted me with a series of pics that were so neat.
Three trees - a golden-brown oak, a very red maple and a tall, deep green fir - contrast with each other on a foggy day. A garden trellis with droopy, fall-wilted vines and a skeleton draped over it occupies the foreground. The same scene a few hours later. The sun has emerged from the fog, brightly highlighting everything that was muted in the previous picture. The same scene the next morning after an overnight snowfall. Everything is either covered or limned in snow.

It's right there at the link, next paragraph down. The bribes were for increases in rates to subsidize a nuclear plant - power producer - that they weren't even properly maintaining. And coal fueled plants. OH is a deregulated market, but this wasn't a distributor issue. It cost consumers a LOT.
