I imagine I'll look like Thelma 😂 tho that's not so bad. She's a badass in that movie.

It feels like another lifetime when I come across my children's and my art.

This is from May 30, 2015, when I gave my daughter Leto a lesson on watercolors. Look what we created together, a portrait of Aminah. She was our neighbor when we lived on the West Side.

This feels like seeing into a past life. This was my office that sat between two 7th grade classrooms. I was one of the special education teachers who moved with students to their Maths, English, Science, and Social Studies classes. I had a 40 student workload.

My cookies always come out ginormous!

As big as your head!

One bite is enough to fill the stomach of a grown man!

Sam:
How many did you eat?

Leto:
Four

When I ran my bakery, then later the cafe in Getzville, and after that created baked goods for JAM Parkside: I produced primarily vegan and kosher products. I always offered 3 baked items that were gluten-free (cookies, baked donuts, Turkish simit rings).

I miss the work. It was hard but worth it.

It took 7 months, but the front closet is finally organized!

I can't food prep like I could before my strokes. My knife skills are improving, but using the stove top and oven are still iffy. So I have to come up with creative ways to make the types of food I love safely. My daughter helped me make lamb kofta, and I used them in two separate meals.

My daughter gave me a haircut today; my first in three years. She removed the bottom 3in of hair damaged by 6 months of immunotherapy infusion treatments followed by 6 months of harsh immunomodulator drugs that wiped my immune system out and caused both of my strokes. My CLL is still in remission.

I miss running my bakery, The Rogue Cellar.

Every season, the menu changed to reflect the traditional flavors of the time of year, showcased as baked items found in other cultures around the world.

Ontbijtkoek is a traditional Dutch spice cake and was one of my favorite breakfast cake recipes.

So lovely! 😍 They are one of my favorite flowers. I used to grow 3 varieties. Here's 2 of them: Angel's Cheeks and Red Burnhardt.

20 and ridiculously unaware of where life was about to take me.

It's this dome of white grey skies over white grey snow that's to blame for this nostalgic photograph.

The Presidential election is behind us, but the Tuesday, November 3, 2026 U.S. midterm elections aren't.

All 435 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives and 33 of the 100 seats in the U.S. Senate will be contested to determine the 120th United States Congress.

Last night, I dreamt I was back here at the Horseshoe Bay in Bermuda. That I had moved into a tin roofed cabana was "wasting" my life, eating fresh fruit popsicles, and sending people into the water to find me seashells. You can only imagine how disappointed I was to wake up in my bed in Buffalo.
