My family doctor doesn’t mask. She also has two young boys at home. Either her immune system is on another plane of existence or she’s gotten stupid lucky with contagious illnesses.

In the air, they both fly beautifully. A Piper Arrow is MUCH faster than a Chipmunk because of its retractable gear. A Chipmunk likely has similar flying characteristics to a fixed gear Piper. Very forgiving and stable.

The Chipmunk can do basic aerobatics unlike a Piper. The biggest difference is the amount of rudder you need to use. The nose gear in a Piper is mechanically linked to the rudder pedals, meaning you have nose steering. The Chipmunk has none of that & requires constant rudder to keep it straight.

Oh man. Great question! For that particular flight, I was probably when I was in the downwind (coming back to land by flying the parallel to the runway). I just felt calm and sat back for a second, enjoying the moment of the fact that the babysitter behind me was not there.

Especially since they seemed to grasp the concept of toe brakes in the predecessor, the Tiger Moth. Oh and the engine is PURPOSEFULLY offset to make the inverted turning tendencies, requiring absurd amounts of LEFT rudder, worse. What a great plane! 😍 I love her.
