I see what you mean: whether renowned resources and eminent experts are provided to support research?

As provided by the British Museum for artefacts,British Library for archive sources..I'm not sure how renowned the IWM are for either of those, maybe they're more a "retail" than "research" museum

I had to look up USHMM🤔

IWMs are the UK's flagship wartime museums,in terms of visitors, even if their curation can let them down (eg Lambeth as this shows, also closing VC exhibition.Folks go to Duxford for planes!)

I'd judge curation by correctness,balance,breadth/context but not depth (=academic)

Oof!

IWM Duxford is awesome though, if you like aircraft porn (as many blokes do!)

My late Great Aunt's late/decorated husband is on the wall there, at a Drumhead ceremony in London soon after the 1918 Armistice (3rd from left)

Do let me know if you have any public lectures cooking, esp. in UK😀

Will propose that to our Viewing Committee!

PS do you find it a bit strange how we label this prestigious museum as "Imperial", or just amusingly British?

Yes we so need to get beyond the "Great Man theory of Historians", but easier to forgive journos: no time to untangle academic politics on a copy deadline! Curator has no excuse

Did you see
www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m... July3? I find Görtemaker's intro etc riveting (esp as I stroll through Sereny)
BBC Four - Albert Speer, The Unseen Interrogation
Hitler's architect Albert Speer is cross-examined in an interview conducted in 1971.

Payment for running their website/service I presume.

Auto-verified as a new user/login, I could then log our medals but sent a question before paying.

£1 is not a problem. But lack of response IS (to a civil query about storing card details).NOT paid so not tweeted, unlike say x.com/Medal_Locato...

My eBay alerts finding 2-3 per week to look at (a long shot!)

Any reports about "Medal Locator CIC"? They post plenty on X, but I can find no success reports (which I'd have thought they'd rightly trumpet!)

I messaged after fluffing my search payment, but no reply whatsoever: email,X or SMS. Rude🤔

Thanks again.
I will do all that. A long shot but any progress I'll repost here.

So helpful! He was...

Sgt Herbert S COLE 29954
2nd Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery
Deployed 17/9/1914
livesofthefirstworldwar.iwm.org.uk/lifestory/88...

Here he is with his wife & medal card.

Any thoughts about where to post my enquiry/plea, e.g. best forums or medal dealer trade bodies?
