Short story - Uhr’s Melody

The song of the Uhr fills the air, a melody that marks each passing hour. It reminds me of the tranquility this land once knew, For the wildlife, it is simply another day but for us, it’s a cruel reminder. Patiently I wait in silence for the perfect moment. Calming myself, not letting emotions be my own downfall. But the memories return, “Cowards. All of you!” I had cried when I left the village. “We were a proud people, unyielding and unashamed!” How far we’ve fallen. Now, we kneel to those we call master. Their greed never satisfied. Our crops, livestock, even our meager possessions are handed over. And yet, it is never enough. How long until they sink further, demanding the unspeakable. I swore they would take nothing more from us. The next hour approaches, and the song will ring again. My instincts will guide me. The perfect moment will come. “Now!” As the song of the Uhr echoes, once a reminder of strife now marks the moment of our liberation!

You tell yourself it'll be different today, but it ends up the same. The definition of insanity is doing something the same way and expecting different results. "What thing have I done different today?", is something I ask myself when frustrated at life. Often times I want to wake up the next day with my life turned on it's head for the better but I don't put in the effort for that change to happen. Small steps is the first step, we tend to look at a grander picture and not the little details to start making it. Instead of thinking, "I'll be the best artist by practicing!" although that's great, we miss the smaller steps. Draw consistently, practice anatomy, study light and color, gesture, composition and whatever else. There is always something to tackle, don't get overwhelmed just choose one small goal and go for it! Although I'm more reserved and quiet, I'm more than happy to help people on their art journey. There is so much I wish I could do over when it comes to learning art, I had a slow start (still feel like it's slow) but over time I see what worked and what didn't. You know I do feel this picture, I am up rather late and have to get up early. I wish I had more time but what can you do about it. You ever just look at grocery prices and think, "dang, instant ramen looks good right about now." Don't quote me on this but I'm pretty sure there was an experiment done where a dude just ate twinkies and took vitamins, he was fine in the end. so I guess if it ever came down to cashmaxxing (saving money) you could do that. Although we can get so caught up in getting ahead in life we forget to enjoy the little things, with this in mind is (insert thing here)maxxing really healthy in the long run for you? I'm just writing at this point so if you made it this far, ohai! we can hide secrets here or comment things to confuse people. I have a lot of goals I want to achieve, whenever I'm discouraged I look at Saitama's story and think if I was at the top of art, what would I have to look forward to. It's the journey of a hobby that keeps us going, I've been discouraged, burnt out and really whatever else that could keep you from doing something you love. In the end I keep coming back here doodling silly pictures, I just love it and I really hope people from all around the world love it too. the most thrilling thing about social media is the reach you could have and I don't mean being popular, but rather anyone from around the world could look at this. I just think that's fascinating. I love the idea no matter from what culture we are from, if there's a common interest anyone can get along. Art just transcends language barriers we have. I really want to learn another language to further the reach I have with people. I want to learn Japanese to interact with them, the little interactions I have with my broken Japanese is delightful. I wish to better myself to have more and more conversations. Anyways I need to sleep, I hope you all are doing well and I hope to write more things in alt text. Don't give up on your dreams. in spite of it all remember to smile from time to time, remember something small and be thankful for it. Til next time -PJ, DEC 12 2024
